Incorporated April 17, 1826, as the Mohawk & Hudson Rail Road; road opened September 24, 1831. This was the first railroad built in the State of New York. April 19, 1847, the name was changed to The Albany and Schenectady Railroad Company. Consolidated into The New York Central Railroad Company under the Act of 1853.
