The American Liberty League was a U.S. organization formed during the New Deal by millionaires and industry leaders with the primary intention of persuading the American people that the programs of the Roosevelt administration were leading the U.S. toward socialism, bankruptcy and tyranny. The League was supported by over $36 billion of donations from U.S. Steel, General Motors, Standard Oil, Chase National Bank , Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and the DuPont family.

The League labeled Roosvelt's Agricultural Adjustment Administration "a trend toward Fascist control of agriculture." Social Security was said to "mark the end of democracy."

On January 25, 1936, the League held a fundraiser at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC for the 1936 election. The League convinced former Democrat Al Smith to join along. Also in attendance were Winthrop Aldrich , Ernest Weir , John W. Davis, Pierre S. DuPont and Dean Acheson.

Lawyers for the American Liberty League challenged the validity of the Wagner Act, but on April 12, 1937, the United States Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the statute.
