The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities or AJCU is an American voluntary service organization based in Washington, D.C. whose mission is to serve its member institutions, the 28 colleges and universities in the United States administered by the Society of Jesus. Though each institution is separately chartered by their respective states and are legally autonomous under their own boards of trustees, the 28 schools are bonded together by a common Jesuit Roman Catholic heritage, vision and purpose, and engage in a number of collaborative projects.
