Benjamin Outram (1764 - 1805) was a British engineer.
Born in Derbyshire, England, some people say that the word "tramway" comes from his own name while other people say that it comes from the low german word "traam" which mean a "beam" (of the wheelbarrow).
He was the builder of the Marple Aqueduct (1800) and the engineer for the Standedge Canal Tunnel (1811).
