Bicoastal

The term bicoastal refers to businesses of the United States that are primarily located on the eastern Atlantic and western Pacific coasts, but also to people with connections to both coasts, but none to the middle of the country. When applied to a person, "bicoastal" is usually a pejorative term, while when applied to a business it is simply a statement of locational fact. Some conservatives allege that the national media are bicoastal, and as a technical matter this is mostly true. Most television programs and films are made in New York City and Los Angeles.

When applied to a person, the term "bicoastal" connotes snobbery, while when applied to a business it is a neutral statement, since the organization may be "bicoastal" merely as a matter of business, set up in locations where it can turn a profit.
