Braylon Jamel Edwards (born February 21, 1983 in Detroit, Michigan) is a current American football player who is set to enter the NFL in 2005. His father, Stanley, played football at the University of Michigan (1977-81) and in the NFL with the Houston Oilers (1982-86) and Detroit Lions (1987). A wide receiver, Edwards followed his father's footsteps at Michigan, where he set several school records. These include season records for receptions (97) and yards (1,330), and career records for receptions (252), yards (3,541) and touchdowns (39). (The latter is also a Big Ten Conference career record.) In 2004, Edwards won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top college football wide receiver. He is eligible for the 2005 NFL Draft and is expected to be one of the top five players selected. Standing 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 209 pounds, Edwards is regarded as one of the most physically imposing players at his position in the draft.
