Prior to 1809, what then became the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland had been an integrate part of Sweden more or less since the dawn of history in Scandinavia, i.e. since Christianization. Therefore, much of Finland's history prior to 1809 is covered in articles on the history of Sweden.
