Children's Internet Protection Act

The Children's Internet Protection Act, also known as CIPA, is one of a number of bills that have been proposed in the United States to limit children's exposure to pornography and other controversial material online by requiring the installation of Internet filtering software on computers in schools and public libraries. CIPA was signed into law on December 21, 2000, but overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States on June 23, 2003.
