A Comic book artist at work.
A Comic book creator is an artist involved in the creation process of Comic books, graphic novels, ... He can be writer, drawer, inker, colorist or letterer.
Depending on the type of production, the different roles can be taken on by different persons:
- In most Alternative comics and old comics, the same person does the writing and all the graphic phases,
- In big productions or fast paced productions (like in most American comics), a different person is assigned to each task,
- In the other cases (like in most European comics), there are usually two or three artists involved: a writer, a drawer (for all the graphical purposes), and sometimes a colorist.
The editing houses employ also letterers for all the translation jobs.
