Coombe Dean School opened in the early 1970's as a comprehensive school. It is situated in the south-west of Plymouth and has a pupil circulation of around 1000. It had gained specialist school status in September 2003 as an ICT and Mathematics school. In Summer 2004, work started on building a larger hall (for assemblies and exhibitions) an all-weather astro-turf pitch complete with floodlights, and an extended maths facility with 8 new classrooms.
