Cyril Holland

Cyril Holland (June 5, 1885 - May 9, 1915) was the eldest son of Oscar Wilde and Constance Lloyd Wilde.

After his father's imprisonment in 1895, he changed his last name to Holland, as did his mother and brother Vyvyan. Holland was an old family name on his mother's side.

In World War I, he fought with the Royal Field Artillery. His younger brother Vyvyan Holland wrote, "He was not popular with his brother officers, who considered him pompous and intolerant. He would not join the small talk of the mess, mostly scandal or about sport. And they could not understand anyone who spent his ordinary leave in travelling about Europe, studying architecture and visiting art galleries instead of hunting, shooting, yachting, or fishing".

He was killed by a German sniper on May 9, 1915 in Neuve Chapelle, France.
