Diet of Augsburg

The Diet of Augsburg was an assembly convened by Holy Roman Emperor Charles V in 1530 in Augsburg now in central Germany. Its purpose was to calm rising tensions over Protestantism.

The Diet of Augsburg also brought forth the treaty of Augusburg, which gave each prince in the Holy Roman Empire the power to decide the religion of his subjects.
