Djibouti district is the smallest district (cercle) of Djibouti. Its capital is Djibouti, which also serves as the national capital. Other major cities and towns include 'Arta and Loyada . The district borders the Djiboutian district of Dikhil district to the south-west, the Djiboutian district of 'Ali Sabih district, Somaliland (Somalia) to the south-east to the south and the Gulf of Tadjoura/Gulf of Aden to the north.
