German 90th Light Infantry Division

90th Panzergrenadier Division

Created in August 1941 as Division zbV Afrika, from units already in Africa under the control of Divisions-Kommando z.b.V. Afrika. Renamed as 90th Light Infantry Division in November 1941, and then to 90th Light Afrika Division in March 1942. Surrendered in Tunisia in the general Axis collapse of May 1943. Reconstituted in Sardinia in July 1943 as 90th Panzergrenadier Division. Fought the rest of the war in Italy, surrendering to the Americans when the Germans surrendered in that theater.
