Greater Toronto Transit Authority or GTTA is the official name of the agency know as GO Transit. There have been plans to merge all or some of the transit systems within the Greater Toronto Area into the GTTA. A list of likely candidates:

• Toronto Transit Commission
• York Region Transit
• Durham Region Transit - after merger of Ajax-Pickering, Oshawa, Whibty and Clarington Transit systems are completed
• Brampton Transit
• Mississauga Transit

However, the problem for the GTTA is to create one fare system and how to merge all the existings systems easily. The TTC remains reluctant to part from their low-tech cash/ticket/token system.

The TTC has a GTA Transit Pass to allow travel on the TTC, as well as GO Transit, Brampton Transit, Mississauga Transit and York Region Transit. The pass allows single fare for regular routes, an additional fare is required for premium services on the TTC.
