Just like in Isla Verde's case, Hato Rey has many affluent areas, but also many areas that are full of poverty. The Banco Popular building in Hato Rey is one of the first sights tourists can see when arriving at Puerto Rico. Because of its size, the building is very visible from the window of a descending airplane. Because of the area's closeness to the airport, major airlines, such as Avianca and Iberia, have had their offices in Hato Rey during the past. Hato Rey is also home to a series of glamorous boutiques and restaurants. Because of the prostitution in Hato Rey, the area is also home of several motels.
