Henry Morgenthau, Jr.

Henry Morgenthau, Jr. (May 11, 1891 - February 6, 1967) was the son of diplomat Henry Morgenthau, Sr., and was Secretary of the Treasury of the United States (1934-1945).

Henry Morgenthau, Jr. served during the New Deal and World War II and was one of the key individuals in revitalizing the American economy after the Great Depression. He was the only Jewish member of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's administration, whom he served loyally. The secretary's younger son is Robert M. Morgenthau, who has served four terms as district attorney for Manhattan, New York City.
