Hunter's Civic Biology

Hunter's Civic Biology was the science textbook that the state of Tennessee required high school teachers to use in 1925 and which contained a section on evolution that violated the Butler Act. Consequently, it was for supposedly teaching from this textbook that John T. Scopes was brought to trial in Dayton, Tennessee in the infamous Scopes Monkey Trial. In addition to evolution, the book blatantly taught ideas of white supremacy and eugenics.
