Kalisz (pronounce: Kalisz.ogg) is a city in central Poland with 106,800 inhabitants (1995) and an area of 71,4 km². Situated on the Prosna river in the Greater Poland Voivodship since 1999, previously capital of Kalisz Voivodship (1975-1998).

Sometimes Kalisz is called "the oldest town of Poland" because of mentioning by Ptolemy a town called Calisia that was situated on the Amber Trail.
