La raza

La raza also refers to several political and social movements; La raza is also the name of a Spanish radio station network in the United States.

La raza (Spanish: "The race") or "La raza mexicana" is a term which many Mexicans commonly use to denote mestizo ancestry. In the U.S. Census, many Mexicans described themselves as "some other race" to ezpress mestizo pride. Being "la raza" or mestizo does not necessarily mean that the person is of mixed white and Amerindian ancestry, but it is usually used as an indication of ethnical or cultural pride.

The terms "la raza cosmica" (the universal race) and "la raza de bronce" (the bronze race) are also sometimes used alternatively.
