Lahu

The Lahu people (Chinese: 拉祜族 Lāhùzú; own names: Ladhulsi or Kawzhawd) are an ethnic group. They form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China, where they live in Yunnan province. Their language is most closely related to the Yi language, a member of the Tibeto-Burman branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family. It is written with the Latin alphabet.

Other populations of Lahu live in Laos, Burma and Vietnam. There are around 80,000 Lahu in Thailand, where they are one of the six main hill tribes.
