Marcos Ambrose

Marcos Ambrose is a race car driver born in Launceston, Australia on the 1st of September 1976. He was the Australian V8 Supercars champion in 2003 and 2004, competing in that series from 2001 until 2005. He has also drove in British Formula Three , British Formula Ford and Australian Formula Ford , and plans to move to NASCAR in 2006. Marcos began racing karts at the age of ten. After several state titles, he moved into Formula Ford in 1996. The Ambrose family have a rich history in this formula, as Marcos's father Ross Ambrose was the co-founder of Formula Ford chassis builder Van Diemen, along with Ralph Firman Sr. Marcos competed in both Australia and England, before stepping up to Formula 3 for a brief period. When his budget could no longer sustain his career in Europe, Marcos returned to Australia, where he was recruited by V8 Supercar team Stone Brothers Racing. With them, he has won two titles, the first Ford driver to do so in seven years. Marcos plans to move to America in 2006 to compete in the NASCAR series with Ford.
