Mohammed V (August 10, 1909February 26, 1961) was Sultan of Morocco from 1927 to 1961. He was the son of Sultan Yusef, upon whose death he succeeded to the throne. In 1953 he was dethroned by the French colonial administration, and replaced by Mohammed Ben Aarafa. He returned to power two years later after active oppostition to the Frech protectorate. Mohammed V was then responsible for negotiating Moroccan independence. In 1957 he took the title 'King'.

Among his wives was Lalla Abla bint Tahar , who became the mother of the king's son and successor Hassan II.

Mohamed was a member of the Alaouite Dynasty.
