Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal is one of the major political groupings in Pakistan. It is a coalition of political parties that are defined by an identification with a religious denomination, sect, or ideology.
Formed as a religious coalition in the aftermath of 9/11 attacks,majority of Pakistani voters voted for the religious oriented parties.Citing public opinion,religious parties formed in unison to stand in unity against Musharaff's dictatorship and unquestioned loyalty towards USA.
The parties which formed MMA are The Jamiate Ulema E Islam (Fazlur Rehman Group) and JUI(SamiulHaq),JUP and JamateIslami as well as Shia oriented Tehrike Nafaze Fiqah Jafaria.
The MMA is now in government in two of Pakistan's four provinces.
