Notting Hill Gate is one of the main thoroughfares of Notting Hill in London. At its centre is Notting Hill Gate tube station.
At Ossington Street / Palace Court, the Bayswater Road turns into Notting Hill Gate, and it continues until it turns to Holland Park Avenue just before Ladbroke Grove.
Much of the street has been destroyed and was redeveloped in the 1950s.
To the south of Notting Hill Gate lies Kensington Church Street , with its restaurants and antique shops. North from the tube station, Pembridge Road leads to Westbourne Grove. This area is often packed with tourists heading to Portobello Road market.
There are two famous cinemas, The Gate and the Notting Hill Coronet .
Historically the street was a location for tollgates, from which the street derives its modern name.
