Philip Seymour Hoffman (born July 23, 1967 in Fairport, New York) is a US actor.

Hoffman made his film debut in 1991, and has established a successful film career playing supporting roles; notably, he has appeared in all four of Paul Thomas Anderson's feature films to date. He has also appeared on Broadway and received a Tony Award nomination in 2000. He starred in his own film Owning Mahowny in 2003 to rave reviews.
