Plenk

Plenk is a wrongly added blank before a punctuation character. Adding a wrong blank is called plenken. The antonym of plenken is Klempen.

Plenks are hated because they might make trouble with word wrap and cause the punctuation mark to be wrapped into the next line, which makes the text "unreadable".

Example:

You are here ! I am here
, too ! You are just plenking
!

Etymology

Plenk is derived from blank. It has been first used in the German MausNet newsgroups by Johannes Leckebusch. Since Mid 90s, plenk is a commonly used word in German newsgroups.
