Prijepolje is a town in Serbia and Montenegro
Named by the owner of one peason which name was Prija and name of the land in Serbia i called "polje" it is now called Prijepolje. Prijepolje has got a very long histrory. It is considered that it has been established like a settlement since 1234, the same time as Mileseva monastery was built which is the memorial of king Vladislav.
Monastery Mileseva is located in Prijepolje. Milseva is famous for White Angel fresco,the most known fresco in Serbia.
Prijepolje is located on the banks of the fast mountainous rivers Lim and Milesevka, at the 310-th kilometer of the main road Belgrade - the Adriatic sea and at the railway line Belgrade - Bar as well. The Adriatic trunk road is intersected here with the regional road Pljevlja - Prijepolje - Sjenica. The later runs mainly the same pathway as the ancient road in the Roman times and Turkish period did and was called Dubrovnik road. At Bistrica, near Prijepolje, there is a road leading towards Priboj, Visegrad and Sarajevo. The municipality of Prijepolje covers the area of 824 km2 with big altitude difference varying from 440 up to 1735 meters. There are 46,525 inhabitants living there.
