Numbered provinces of Cameroon

Cameroon is divided into 10 provinces:

  1. Adamawa Province (Adamaoua) - capital Ngaoundéré
  2. Centre Province - capital Yaoundé
  3. East Province (Est) - capital Bertoua
  4. Extreme North Province (Extrême-Nord) - capital Maroua
  5. Littoral Province - capital Douala
  6. North Province (Nord) - capital Garoua
  7. Northwest Province (Nord-Ouest) - capital Bamenda
  8. West Province (Ouest) - capital Bafoussam
  9. South Province (Sud) - capital Ebolowa
  10. Southwest Province (Sud-Ouest) - capital Buéa

Most of these provinces were designated in the 1960s alongside Centre-South Province (split into Centre and Sud in 1983). At the same time, Adamawa and Extreme-Nord Provinces were split from North Province.
