Every track on Red is a studio recording, with the exception of track 4, Providence, which is a live recording
Track 1, Red, was composed by Robert Fripp alongside a contrasting piece, Blue. Blue has never been recorded.
A part of track 1, Red, was excised before the track was recorded. This part was later incorporated into the King Crimson track VROOOM VROOOM, on the album THRAK.
Fallen Angel is the last King Crimson recording to date to feature Robert Fripp playing acoustic guitar. On subsequent recordings, he has played only electric guitar.
A longer version of track 4, Providence, is available on the live 4CD set The Great Deceiver (disc 1, track 7).
In 2001Q magazine named Red as one of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time.
