Sado (佐渡市, -shi) is a city located on Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. It has an area of 854.97 km² and a population of 70,015 (as of April 1, 2004)
History
The city was established in 2004 in a merger of Ryotsu, Aikawa , Sawata , Kanai , Niibo , Hatano , Mano , Ogi , Hamochi , and Akadomari .
