Sidney Edward Paget (October 4, 1860 - January 28, 1908) was a British illustrator of the Victorian era, who did a great deal of work for The Strand magazine. Today, Paget is best known as the creator of the popular image of Sherlock Holmes; it is said that Paget based Holmes' appearance on that of his own brother. He is also credited with giving the first deerstalker cap to Holmes, a detail that never featured in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books.

Altogether, Sidney Paget did some 356 published drawings for 37 short stories and one novel (The Hound of the Baskervilles).
