49ers quarterback Joe Montana was named the Super Bowl MVP, completing 14 of 22 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown.

The CBS telecast of the game, with announcers Pat Summerall and John Madden, was one of the most watched broadcasts in America in television history, with more than 85 million viewers. The final Nielsen rating was a 49.1.
