Torpoint Ferry

The Torpoint Ferry is a car and pedestrian ferry crossing the Hamoaze, a stretch of water at the mouth of the River Tamar, between Keyham in Plymouth and Torpoint in Cornwall. It is currently served by three somewhat antiquated pontoon ferries, named after the three tributaries of Plymouth Sound, the Plym, the Tamar and the Lynher. These are scheduled for replacement in 2004-5. The ferries are co-owned by Plymouth City Council and Cornwall County Council, and are managed by the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee.
