Unceded territory

Unceded territory in North America is territory that was never ceded to a government entity by the Native Americans who held the original title to the land and that has never been set apart, legislated, founded, created or established as a reserve. Therefore, the title is still held, and has been continuously held, by the indigenous people who lived there when European settlers entered the country.
