University of Washington Police Department

The University of Washington Police Department is the principal law enforcement agency on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle. It also has jurisdiction over University-owned housing except for the Radford Court apartments in Sand Point. It was officially established in the early 1950s, although the department can trace its history back to the summer of 1902 when one John Freeman became the first officer of the University Safety and Security Division.
